Friday 24th September St Andrews Cathedral, King Street - please arrive in plenty of time to find a parking space (which can also be difficult) and be seated at 6.50pm for a prompt 7.00pm start. Seating in the pews will be difficult as there will be over 150 people at this rehearsal, so dont leave it till the last minute! If you should arrive late please slip in at the side and do not disturb the rehearsal. There will be a tea break at this rehearsal. Saturday 25th September The Music Hall, Aberdeen - please arrive at 1.00pm and sit in the auditorium. The seating will be arranged gradually with sections being called up onto the stage. If, for any reason you cannot be there at 1pm, please make sure that someone else in your singing part knows this. Uniform should NOT be worn at the afternoon rehearsal. Please be back in your allocated dressing room by 7.00pm to assemble in seating order prior to walking on. Please hold your folder in the hand nearest the audience depending upon which side you walk on from. There will be an interval in the middle of the concert. Singers are not permitted Front of House. It is suggested that you should bring a refreshing drink for this break. Uniform and other details for concert Uniform - HHCOS members: Ladies: blue choral blouses, black full length skirts or long black trousers. Black shoes, tights or socks. Trousers and skirts must be long enough to touch shoes. Gents: very white long sleeved shirt, choral tie, black trousers, shoes and socks. Uniform - External singers - Ladies: very white long sleeved blouse, black full length skirts or long black trousers. Black shoes, tights or socks. Trousers and skirts must be long enough to touch shoes. Gents: very white long sleeved shirt, plain royal/navy blue tie, black trousers, shoes and socks. All singers should have a navy blue or HHCOS folder to cover music. All singers should be smartly turned out with minimal jewellery and tied, put up or brushed back hair. Make-up for ladies is always effective. NO HANDBAGS to be taken on stage. For the comfort and convenience of all, due to the cramped seating at both St Andrew's and at the Music Hall, is it necessary to observe a strict personal hygiene regime. Clothes should be freshly laundered, showers liberally used and the use of scentless antiperspirants is advised. Perfumes and after shaves should not be used (due to allergy problems with other singers). Breath mints before the performance are recommended if necessary. Even in rehearsal please do not take anything onto the stage except your music and a pencil. Bags block aisles and take up valuable space. Eating cough sweets or sipping water through the performance is extremely distracting for the audience and fellow singers. Dressing rooms will be provided and some can be locked during the performance, however please do not bring unnecessary valuables. Please leave everything unnecessary at home or in your car. Due to extreme lack of space, we must ask you to change elsewhere if at all possible. Please do not use sprays of any kind (again due to allergies) in the dressing rooms. Please turn mobile phones off during rehearsals and the concert. Singers are asked not to drink alcohol before the performance or in the interval. Concert Programmes will be available to purchase (at cost price) to choir members after the performance (price TBC depending upon printing costs). The bar will be open after the performance for all singers. During forthcoming rehearsals singers will be asked to contribute £3 towards the bouquets and gifts for the soloists, conductor etc. REMINDER ALL subscriptions must be paid before the concert Schedule posted 24.04.2010 Haddo Combined Treble Voice Choir The choir was awarded Open Choir of the Day in BBC Radio 3's Choir of the Year Competition 2010 at the Edinburgh heat on the 1st May at the Usher Hall. This is a vitally important way to support the Choral Society (including the Junior sections). For an annual subscription they could get a range of benefits ranging from two annual newsletters to priority ticket order forms and reserved seating, especially useful for our 'sell out' events such as the Carol Concerts. Choose from three different levels: 'Sonata,' 'Concerto' or 'Symphony'. Parking HHCOS members are reminded that parking is only permitted in the main car park. Absolutely no parking is allowed behind the hall, or outside the Peatyards. Disabled badge holders can park behind the hall, but please leave at least a whole car width outside the back door for fire engine access. Webmail You can check your HHCOS e-mail account from anywhere! HHCOS Webmail HHCOS Letterheads Please note that the logo at the top of the website pages is not the letterhead for the Society. The proper letterheads can be found in the downloads section. Two letterheads are now available for download, a greyscale one for a letter which you will photocopy and a colour one for colour printing only. Patrons We are delighted to announce that HRH the Earl of Wessex has agreed to be patron of our society. We look forward to forging close ties with him in the future. Dr. Neil Mackie CBE and Patricia MacMahon have kindly agreed to become patrons of the Society. This is wonderful news as they have offered to help raise our profile and put on fund raising concerts, workshops and master classes. NTS and related news Discussions are ongoing with the National Trust for Scotland and other users (HUG) concerning present practical arrangements and future strategic use of the facilities at Haddo, which are owned and run by the NTS. Costumes have mostly been transferred to safe storage on the Schivas Estate. Alice has keys to the Peatyards and the office. All Choral Society bookings of facilities at Haddo can now only be made through Susan Burgess (HHCOS HUG rep). |
