Haddo Youth Choir at Banff Academy, June 2004.

Join Us

Are you a keen young singer? Fulfil your potential and join us NOW!

The two Haddo Junior Choirs are recruiting now for new members. If you want to learn how to sing and have fun at the same time, why not join? The choirs are amongst the best in Scotland and regularly win competitions and get brilliant reviews for concerts they do throughout the North East.

Haddo Youth Choir is for youngsters from Senior 1 to age 24. They rehearse on Tuesdays  in Ellon Parish Church (after HCC) from 8.00pm - 9.00pm.  On joining, you will find that all aspects of your singing improve week by week. Many past and present singers take leading roles in local productions and/or win competitions as soloists partly because of the training they receive with Haddo. You can learn all, and more, than you can in expensive private lessons. There are at present about 45 members, both boys and girls.

Haddo Children’s Choir is for singers aged from Primary 4 - 7.  They rehearse at 7.00 - 8.00pm (before HYC) in the same place. You are given the rare opportunity of having your young voice gently trained and you learn to sing in harmony with a challenging and exciting repertoire. Professional singers agree that Choirs are the best way to train young people to sing. There are at present about 65 members, both boys and girls.

Ellon Parish Church is situated in 'The Square' Ellon. The square has a distinctive war memorial and the 'Ashvale' Fish and Chip shop! The church is tucked away on the south side of the square, a building with pillars and steps outside. We are extremely grateful to the church for allowing us to use this beautiful venue.

Everyone is welcome to join either of the two HJCs at any time throughout the year, there are no auditions and it costs just £15 per year.

The next time to join either choir will be on Tuesday January 13th for brand new repertoire for the summer concert and festival.

Please download the registration form below and bring with you to any Tuesday rehearsal.

'Overall, superbly blended sound and brilliantly prepared.’

Howard Goodall. Adjudication HHCTVC, 2006.

HJC is particularly keen to recruit boys into its numbers if their voices are unbroken (older boys should apply to Haddo House Choral and Operatic Society or Haddo Youth Music Theatre, where they will be made more than welcome).

On joining you will receive a folder with this terms songs, a free uniform for HYC members or a subsidised sweatshirt for HCC members. All transport will be organised and subsidised by the Choir.

The choirs demand a certain level of commitment, but all the members agree it is well worth the effort, and are proud of the standard they reach.

This year the choirs have a programme of concerts and festival entries.

If you would like to join us at any time through the year, please download and fill in the form below and bring it with your £15 joining fee and a pencil to the next rehearsal.
